On the 8th October 2005, I shall be traveling to Kathmandu to
participate in a fundraising hike to the base camp of Mt Everest, in
conjunction with the global volunteer’s network (www.volunteer.org.nz). Over a period of 19
days, I shall be climbing to heights of over 17,000ft in a strenuous
climb to the base camp, before returning back down to where it all started,
Lukla. I am looking to raise excess
of US$2,000 to help build and sustain a local daycare center, supply
money to under funded orphanages and fund night shelters for homeless
children. The children of Nepal
certainly need your help. Due to a
lack of day care centers for poor working Nepali women, these women are often
forced to bring their young infants with them to work. Orphanages throughout
Nepal do not have adequate funds to provide children with quality housing,
food or health care. Orphans not lucky enough to reside in orphanages must
live on the streets. They have no safe place to rest their heads at night. |

The kingdom of Nepal is one of many very poor
developing countries that require as much assistance from the richer,
developed world as possible. With your donation, you can be a shored
that your money will go directly to those children who need it most, and be
another small step toward freeing these people from a constant
struggle of poverty. The funds raised from this hike will allow the partner
organization in Nepal to create child day care centers for working women.
Your funds will also go towards providing children in orphanages with quality
housing, health care, food, schooling and supervision. For those children who
do not reside in orphanages your funds will help to create a street
children’s night shelter to protect children after dark. I’m not asking for much, just a few pounds can make such a
difference, If we all join in and contribute. In return the children of Nepal will be forever grateful!!! |
